OCLC and OhioLink Release Extensive Data Sets on... →
infoneer-pulse: OhioLINK and OCLC Research released on September 21 what is likely the largest and most comprehensive study of academic library circulation ever undertaken. Among the more interesting findings, the “80/20” rule, which says that 80 percent of a library’s circulation is driven by approximately 20 percent of the collection, may not be accurate. The report, OhioLINK-OCLC Collection...

Amit Sood demonstrates one of the most impressive and incredible art applications to come along in the last decade. Think Google Street View and Google Earth, but for some of the world’s greatest museums and works of art.

Top 10 Apps for Arts Education →
Just to clarify, these are not solely iOS or Android apps. Some of them are web-based as well, but they’re all pretty incredible (especially Art Project by Google). Here are three from the list that I can personally vouch for: Art Project, which is powered by Google, allows you to virtually walk through the halls of famous museums across the world, view artwork with high-definition...

I don't understand how some people struggle with...
I mean, you see all kinds of mistakes in they’re sentences. Are you to busy too proofread you’re work? Come on, guys. Its not that hard. Don’t you know that simple grammar and spelling mistakes make you loose credibility? It effects the way people view you. I mean, if you won’t take the time to work on fixing these things up than I don’t know what too say.

Game-Based Learning Units for the Everyday Teacher... →
First, let’s clarify a couple things. One common myth about GBL is that it requires high-level technology. Another is that it is simply using games, whether physical or on the web, in the classroom. These ideas are not entirely true. Yes, GBL can be more rockstar when using technology, but it is not a requirement. No, GBL is not simply using games in the classroom. It is about making a...

Should Teachers Friend Their Students?  →
One of my favorite teachers told me once that he dressed the way that he did — jackets, ties, and other business attire — because he wanted us to know that, while he was our teacher, he was not our friend. And I thought that made sense. It was his job to advocate for us. To challenge us. To help us be the best we could be. And so he wasn’t our friend. He was our teacher. To keep those ideas...

Any suggestions for me?
This is now the third morning that I’ve seen the driver of a black Dodge Ram 1500, Ohio license plate FDJ 3620, illegally park in a handicap spot at the Starbucks at Lincoln and 59 in Kent, Ohio. Laziness and entitlement aren’t disabilities. He has no plates and no placard/hang tag. I need suggestions on how to handle this short of calling the police to complain. I don’t care...

Facebook iPad App Developer Quits After Repeated... →
Business Insider noticed earlier today that Facebook engineer Jeff Verkoeyen, who has been responsible for development of the social networking company’s iPad application since the beginning of this year, has left his position and taken a job at Google.  In a blog post (apparently down for the moment due to high traffic), Verkeoyen laid out his personal complaints about Facebook and...

10 Things I’d Do Right Now as a Superintendent  →
I can’t say I agree with all of these, especially since there seems to be a tremendous misunderstanding of what elearning is and how it should work, but here’s one thing from the list: Plan for the shift to personal digital learning in three phases over the next 3-5 years.  You need six coordinated plans considering content and instruction, assessment and data, devices and ...
