Open Library is a project of the non-profit Internet Archive, and has been funded in part by a grant from the California State Library and the Kahle/Austin Foundation.
This is one of those things that’s so incredible and frustrating. Frustrating because even I can’t comprehend just how much time and work it takes to build something like this. This collection might represent tens or even hundreds of millions of hours of collective thought to accomplish (including the time to write the books). Incredible. Absolutely incredible.
