Don’t use deceptive means to generate revenue or traffic, or create blogs with the primary purpose of affiliate marketing. Spam doesn’t belong on Tumblr.
This is exactly what you do with your Cooperative Catalyst blog, which was created to promote your external Cooperative Catalyst Wordpress blog. This is also what you do when you relentlessly reblog your personal blogs over and over again between your six Tumblr blogs, something that’s been documented here and here. Not to mention that you refuse to even put a disclosure on each of your posts and blogs that you’re behind all of them, and that you’re reblogging your own post.
You’re a spammer, plain and simple. And you abuse your blogs to promote yourself.
Aaaaand this one, which he ironically posted on his AdventuresInLearning Tumblr blog, reblogged (from his AdventuresInLearning Tumblr blog) to his personal DavidLoitzDayDream Tumblr blog, then REBLOGGED FROM HIMSELF AGAIN (from his DavidLoitzDayDream Tumblr blog) to his AdventuresInLearning blog.
Then there was this post and this one, both self-reblogs from his HumanScaleSchools Tumblr blog.
But I’m a bully for calling out this shameless self-posting and, let’s be honest here: Spam.
We did finally hear from Tumblr support about OhMuffins. They’ve put her in touch with someone to hopefully get things resolved.
Oh, and by “we,” I mean “several other people but not me even though I sent Tumblr three separate messages over the last week.” So that’s cool. I’m not sure why Tumblr won’t respond to me at all, so it’s pretty worthless for me to even attempt contacting them at this point.
We still need some more editors for #Education, so don’t be afraid to email firstname.lastname@example.org to ask for it.
I can’t say why we lost one of our only five #Education editors, but we could really use her help. #Education is now limited to 40 promoted posts a day because we only have four editors. There’s no reason for OhMuffins to have been removed. If anything, we need …
Okay I must be missing something - why was she removed? How do you get designated a promotor? I am not sure how this works but I am willing to help out if I can. Am now definitely following Oh Muffins!
We’ve received no explanation. We’ve collectively been editors for over a year now, and the five of us have managed to keep the activity level for #Education on par with other tags that have 4-5 times as many editors (which says an enormous amount about the quality of the posts and posters in the #Education community on Tumblr).
I opened a support ticket with Tumblr over three days ago. I know they’re busy, so I’m willing to wait a few more days for a reply. This does bring up the issue that:
A) An Editor (especially one who’s done the job for over a year and consistently functioned at the Top Editor for a good period of time) shouldn’t be removed without explanation.
B) #Education needs more editors. Plain and simple. Five (now four) is not enough. If that means me stepping aside, I’m more than happy. But not to be replaced by just one other person.
Teaching is hard enough as it is, and it’s even harder when you don’t have the support you need. It is heartbreaking to read about my American counterparts who seem to have the government working against them.
I love my job, and I love where it has taken me. I love the little things and the big things that teaching others has taught me. I am passionate about this profession and I am saddened when, like my friends at Campus three and a few teachers in the Tumblr community, good people are let go because of policies and budget cuts.
To all of them, I say hang in there. Times can get tough, but don’t lose hope. Cheer up, because others are thinking of you.
